Ribbit! Did you know insects eat all sorts of things? Some sip sweet nectar from flowers, some munch on leaves, and others even snack on other insects! Today we’re going to learn what bugs like to eat — and when you finish, you’ll earn your Food Badge! Let’s hop in!

There are two match games below. The first one asks you to match the insect to it’s food.
The second one asks you to match insects in the same insect family. This is new information. But, once you figure it out, you will know that insects within the same family eat the same food!

The insects are really hungry. They need your help to feed them! Drag the right food to the right insect. They’ll be so grateful!
PARENT NOTES
Kids love to watch insects in their own environments. Here are a few ideas for you to take them outside where they can watch insects eat in their habitats.
Plant a flower and watch for pollinators like bees and butterflies.
Put out a small piece of fruit outside and check which insects come to investigate.
Watch ants carry crumbs and talk about how they find food.
